What will be the cost, if you have to pay? That could be difficult, as will meeting those who can afford it. You tell yourself to ‘go with the flow’, take a deep breath and re-enter the Reception area. About forty people are gathered, but oddly they all stand alone, their smiles and attempts at conversation reveals they are as uncomfortable as you. You hope a wine tasting will change that! In introducing yourself to several people, others draw near. Many people come from afar and have been content to stay for weeks, months and years. Those represented here appear to have questions similar to yours and a desire to find answers. The clock tower chimes the hour. The tall, white-haired portly man with the shiny face arrives to tap a glass with a spoon.
“Good morning everyone. I hope you all had a refreshing night’s sleep. My name is Havej Gira, I am the vinedresser. For some the journey here has been days, for others years of overcoming hazards and traumas. Today, I tell you that many are called, but few have chosen to take up the invitation to dine at my table. For you all, comes a choice to continue the journey, remain and receive the benefits of that which my son has laboured, or return to your old life.” You glance around the room at the puzzled expressions and tittering voices. “Now before the wine tasting, we will first visit the vineyard, then I’ll show you the various processes.”
The crowd follow Havej through the doors to guide them down to the vines. You have an inward conviction that today is important. A familiar voice behind you says, “Hello, it’s good to see you again.”
