From a drowsy state you see the low table in front of you has been cleared of your afternoon tea with Joseph the dreamer. Surely, you haven’t slept the night here. How embarrassing! Stiff and cold, you pull yourself up and lean on the veranda’s balustrade and look out over the lake. Something feels different! You realise you aren’t wearing the extravagant outfit of yesterday, but winter clothes, you pull them around you.
Awareness comes, this place, the people, their conversations, and meeting ‘Joseph the dreamer’ you have relived many times, not here, but in your armchair at home. You didn’t used to dream, and wished you could. Then, when you did the content would quickly dissipate on waking. Gradually your dreams expanded into vague memories, snippets, but now in these ‘special’ dreams God has indelibly printed people and scenes on your mind. Now you are back, how long have you been away?
A year ago, you joined an Alpha Course, committed your life to Jesus, and enjoyed the Holy Spirit weekend. Sadly, there were those unable to fully embrace the spiritual content which included God giving people dreams. You have read the NIV Bible from Genesis to Revelation, marked verses for further meditation and use in prayer. In knowing the Lord is ever present, you have asked, fasted and searched for a gathering of people as keen and excited by Him as you. You feel your natural and supernatural experiences are melding together. Jesus told Peter He would give Him the keys of the Kingdom, and you feel you are being enabled to unlock His Word and Spirit. As the months have passed you are sure God’s Word is changing the way you think about life, as you can quickly replace frustration and anger with His peace.
Read: “…it is by grace you have been saved. And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus. In order in that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed to us in Christ Jesus.” Ephesians 2:5-7 (NIV)
